Support Needed Refinements to Arlington's Vision Zero Strategy
Level of Effort: 5 minutes, at home, in your PJs
Deadline: Mon 5/4 11:59pm

Arlington's Vision Zero Team is making some much-needed updates to our Vision Zero plan to help us achieve zero deaths and serious injuries on our streets by 2030.  The draft update doubles down on what's been working, and makes needed course corrections to improve efficiencies and focus on areas that need new approaches to succeed.

Among other items, the updated plan would:

  • Update maintenance of travel requirements for street construction projects to ensure people walking & biking can still safely and efficiently reach their destination, despite construction activities
  • Create an annual safety-driven legislative and policy agenda to advocate for needed statewide legislation
  • Get tougher and bring new tools to managing speeds
  • Build quick-build projects even quicker
  • Expand the Multimodal Safety Toolbox with new pilot projects
  • Grow and evolve the County's partnership with VDOT who controls many streets on the High Injury Network
  • Re-launch the Safe Routes to School program in partnership with APS

We think the draft plan update deserves your strong support, and encourage you to share that support via the county's feedback form.
